Yes. Fresnel refers to little ripples in the projector lens that soften/blur the cutoff line to decrease the "flicker effect" which is what oncoming traffic perceives as high beam flashes when your S2000 hits dips/bumps in the road.

On the HID fanatic message boards it's unanimous that AP1 HID projectors, especially '00 and '01 have the sharpest, brightest light output, AP1 '02 & '03 are only slightly different and '04 & '05 are only slightly different. '06 is when they went downhill with the Fresnel lenses to meet the new DOT standard.

I think the most noticeable thing about the S2000 is the soft top. I love open top motoring (being a motorcyclist) and the ability to drop that top and blast through the curves is my single favorite part of owning an S2000.
So the sharpness of the cutoff is what dictates the quality? Are there different part numbers for 00-01 and 02-03 headlights?

I noticed people don't see my car and hit it in parking lots.

In the past 2 months I've lost a front bumper and just this past friday, a dent in the door and a scratch the size of my forearm in the quarter panel.

For people who have replaced AP2 projector lenses with AP1, do the lenses pull straight out, or do I have to bake the housings? I am interested in polishing the ripples.

I think the most noticeable thing about the S2000 is the front fenders. How low they sit and how it tucks the wheels in as if there's no room in there for the suspension to move.

Front fenders are awesome, so are the headlight, so is the sound of the motor. For me this is my first convertable, and that is another awesome thing for me too. I love just about everything about the car. Perhaps some things could be added to make it better. (Cooling/heated seats) but I think its an amazing car, and I love driving it.
