MotorTrend#'s for the S2000, wow!
All of the 0-60 times that have been published probably average somewhere around 5.5 seconds. I personally think that's a realistic number.
R/T's 0-60 time of 4.9 seconds in that issue was later revealed as a misprint. When R/T reprinted that article, they corrected the S2000's 0-60 time (to 5.5 or 5.6 seconds I think).
Real-world conditions and non-aggressive launches will probably result in high-5 second 0-60 times (possibly low-6s too). High-rpm clutch drops will get you into the low 5s. Launches somewhere in between should get you into the mid-5s.
As many people have said, the S2000 is not a dragster.

Silver Bullet -
I think mid to high 5's for an aggressive launch w/ clutch drop and mid 6's without the clutch drop. I don't think low 5's are consistantly achievable, but might be possible in the right weather conditions with a strong-running car.

Motor Trend has tested the S2000 at least 3 times; the first time they got like 6.0/14.6; then they got 5.2/13.8; then they got something in between.
There's a huge variance in acceleration times with this car because it's so tricky to launch and so sensitive to conditions. I've seen published 0-60 times from 5.2 to 7.2 (!).

One thing is certain. This thread says more about the automotive press than it says about the S2000.
I love other people to drive other S2000s like they were stolen. I drive mine like I love it.
