I wonder if car insurance covers mouse damage. If not, I'd better get a cat.

You obviously haven't read the 'cat on the soft top' threads.

There is a product called "Mouse Pruf" that is little pellets you can put around in the corners of a mouse infested area (even a car). The mice eat it. This stuff not only kils the mouse, but causes the mouse's body to dry up quickly with no dead mouse odor, and to disintigrate quickly.

Just a thought in case anybody has this problem again.

Thanks,
Richard

A few years ago I was looking into getting an older car and restoring it, and I saw an ad for the model car I wanted for next to nothing, being sold by someone out in the country, and so, thinking it might be THE car, or if in bad condition a car to salvage parts from, I went out and looked at the car. The big surprise -- the car was in a barn and when I opened the door I discovered that a momma cat had given birth in the passenger seat.

I guess kittens and cat fur (and a little kitty cat afterbirth) are easier to deal with than a mouse with a taste for wires, but needless to say, I passed on the car and gave up thinking I should buy an old car to restore.

find someone with a snake and dispose of the mouse that way, it is more humane to let nature take its course.

closest I came to that was having my secondary 02 sensor wires being eaten through giving me a CEL - the guys at Honda thought it was funny putting that on a warranty claim

Similar situation happened to a friend of mine. He bought a mouse for his snake and ended up loosing the mouse somewhere in the car. Couple days later he just placed his snake in the car and they eventually found each other.
