Default Moving from Midwest to West Coast

My brother and his wife are moving to Southern Cali from Chicago and I was wondering if you guys recommended a moving company to do this; also, a company that ships cars, especially low, small ones like the s2k.

They'll be flying, and need a company to move all their stuff plus the car.

If I had the choice, I would drive all the way over there! I did a google search and this was one of the results:

If you don't mind waiting around for 2-3 days from scheduled arrival date, you can consider Progressive Vanlines. They came to pack the furnitures and the piano on the exact date and time promised, when the truck arrived in GA from MD about 2-3 days late, there was 1 table busted (it was already damaged before we moved, so did not care much), plus a broken bottle of soy sauce.

Not a scratch on the leather sofa and the piano was still in-tune, which was quite a shocker to us.

From what I've heard, 2-3 days late is "normal" and actually considered good among movers nationwide. During those 2-3 days, we were never neglected by the customer service line and the truck driver kept regular communication with us and informed his whereabout.

Good luck!

i was moved from pdx to WI and used Atlas. The car was put into the same truck as my household items, so car showed up at the same time, enclosed, and safe. had a few issues, such as, they didnt have tow straps ready and waiting for my car!! i had to get a little ugly with a handful of people who would not take responsibility. long story short though, car showed up, with 0 additional miles as when it was loaded, and in perfect condition.

maybe you know a truck driver (18-wheeler)... tell him to get a trailer... get all your stuff in + car in the trailer, pay $2.00-$2.50 per mile and you'll save alot!

Avoid Graebel - they took 13 days to move our stuff from AR to CO. The worst.

We moved from OH to FL using Movex and were pleased, so that's one way to go if you're not looking for full service (I trusted myself and friends to pack/load properly over movers...). You pay for only the space you need, and if I remember correctly they did have vehicle transport service as well. The cost is much lower for this type of service as well (which we cared about as we were footing the bill...may not be an issue for you).

Best of luck!
