I remember someone installed some mud-guards he bought from Autozone, and looked quite clean, surprisingly. Try searching for that thread. But it's one of those love-it or hate-it things...

If you don't wish to custom make a set of mudguards, I would suggest you get the area just behind each wheel covered with about 8 mil thick 3M Scotchcal film. The worst place that gets "blasted" on my car is the area just IN FRONT of the rear tires. This may only be because my winter wheels/snow tires stick out a bit more than stock. This is where I have my film. Many of also have the whole frontal surface of the car protected by this film. Now that your car is still new and hopefully have no rock chips, this is the time to have the film put on, NOT after the chips are there. Do a search for "Stongard", Xpel, 3M, Scotchcal and you'll see lots of posts about these products.

To add to xviper's comment, I have 3M all along the bottom rocker panel area and the splash zone of the rear bumper, worked well so far.
