Mugen CAI and header question
Hi
I have some questions about the mugen CAI and header . First i live in Belgium and for as far as i know there are no modded s2k's here so i don't nobody else to answer my questions so i hope u guys can help me .
So i want to buy these two parts but in the shop they tell me that this wouldn't give almost no gains and i wouldt have to buy the mugen exhaust to get some gains .
They also say that i would be better of with parts of AEM and it would give the same or a bit more than the mugen parts ????? I know these parts would be cheaper but i want the good stuff .
Any help would be usefull ...

Mugen products are some of the best on the market. All of their components put out Dyno proven gains both in torque and Hp. Mugen does not make exagerated claims like many other companies, but they DO make power.
The Mugen intake will not make power. It will prevent you from losing power due to heak soak and bogging. The CAI in combination with the header and exhaust will make some power. The AEM is dyno tested to improve hp and midrange power. BTW Mugen CAI will cost you $1500 USD, AEM $250 USD.
If anything, I would say get the header first because the stock exhaust is very good as is. You will feel a difference with the header in the midrange. For the CAI, you could get something decent for a lot less. Comptech, Injen, AEM...
Not sure if you're considering the Mugen ECU but if you're going to make some decent power, you should consider the ECU along with the header and radiator cap, thermostat and switch.

I think that i'm going to buy the AEM header and CAI then .
Is the ECU good for daily driving ?
I would like to buy the comptech superchager but it's illegal in belgium so i have to get some other stuff to go a bit faster

Actually, one note about the Mugen ECU. You need to run high octane gas if you plan on driving everyday. At least 95 octane from what I'm told. Was going to install it on my car to dyno but I had a full tank of 91.
AEM makes a header now for the S?

I ran a 221.5. My first run several months ago netted me 219.9 (bone stock) but this time I had the Mugen header and I actually didn't lose top end power but gained a little. It nicely fattened up the torque curve which is exactly what I was looking for. No other mods. Just mugen header on my '02.
The last guy in, Hondalegend I believe ran a really strong 223 or 221 on MY00, bone stock! His was broken in real well.
Sideways, well, he had the Mugen hamster and air freshner bumping out some impressive #'s.
