The only changes that do not agree with the Mugen ECU are camshaft changes....

Cheers!

Scott, thanks for the info. One question though, you mentioned that Mugen maps the fuel and ignition curves every 100 rpm. Are they doing a step test on the dyno every 100 rpm, or does the ECU actually have map points every 100 rpm? I ask because, while I haven't seen the tables on an F20C ECU yet, historically the Honda ECU's have used a table resolution of 300-500 rpm (varying depending upon rpm, usually much narrower at low rpm and getting wider at high rpm). They just interpolate between those points.

Doesn't really matter much in the grand scheme of things, but I'm a tech junky, so I like to understand this stuff.

Thanks.

I have two ECU scenarios and I am not sure which is the best solution for my SCed vehicle:

Mugen ECU: The bottom-end torque/hp is quite noticable around town which increases traffic drivability but the leaning out at high rpms might be reducing my total HP output...

Stock ECU: Really suffers at low rpms and bogs easily unless I give it some good throttle but might have a few extra horses at max hp due to the very rich stock ECU conditions...

So which to choose? Around-town drivability or maximum HP?

BTW, the low-midrange hp/torque increase from the Mugen ECU is VERY noticable... (for the record)

shaner, have you thought about running the Mugen ECM and choking down the FPR?

Maybe I am looking at this wrong, but why would he want to retard fuel if he is already running lean with the Mugen ECU? It's not a good idea to starve the engine even more under boost. BOOM!

I'm surprised at the fact that no one seems to mention the AMUSE ECU. Although not as common as the Mugen for obvious reasons, this super-tuner is quite famous in Japan and offers some of the best tech equip on the planet. Sure wish I could read Japanese.

Apparently Mines is probably the best in ECU tuning.. but there r still lots of other good choices like Mugen,Spoon,Feels,J's racing,Apexi power FC,backyard special,Amuse,Sard... but Mugen is suppose to be the best for any Honda application cuz they've been makin Honda parts for years, they have the experience and have spend lots of time on R & D on their products.. u can't go wrong with Mugen..

RT,

When I Dyno-ed, I used the Mugen ECU and we played with the FPR. As you described, we tightened down the regulator (read: INCREASING fuel pressure... for those who might confuse it with lowering pressure) and I did gain a few HP. We cranked it down further and lost a few HP, so there must be a sweet spot inthe FPR setting...

Can the fuel pressure be too high?

Thanks RT, you always do have great insight !
