The Mugen carbon fiber hardtop that I'm familiar with uses a polycarbonite (PC) rear window.

PC is used in many ways- sunglasses, camera and binocular lenses etc. DuPont trademarks a version of PC called Lexan, a name you're probably more familiar with. It can be formed through injection molding, cut like wood, and made to verious thicknesses with minimum distortion (depending on the skill of the maker, that is).

I trust that it must look better in person because IMO the picture included doesn't make one want to run out and buy it. On the other hand having just purchased and installed the Honda top, I can say that it looks incredibly beautiful when standing along side the car and viewing the curving lines - more than pictures indicate. The top and body flow elegantly together.

I prefer the Mugen top. It's not as plain as the oem hardtop.

Hi 1Y2KS2K-

From what I understand, the black hardtop that is on the King Motorsports S2000 was the first production unit out of the mold.

That means that there aren't that many in existence to begin with- maybe one or two preproduction prototypes and maybe (a complete guess on my part) 30 units total in the world at this moment.

Well let's get some pics of those other 29 hardtops that are in existence.

Hey, maybe Scott will give us a group buy price.

Well probably not, but it might be worth a try. Somebody needs to get him in this thread.

Hi Guys,

We have just taken delivery of the first run of production carbon fiber hardtops. The hardtops are finished in natural carbon with a clear coat inside and out. The finish is stunning! You can install the hardtop as delivered or paint it to match you car.

As stated before, this hardtop uses all the OEM mounting hardware and seals (provided with the hardtop) for precise fitment and sealing.

Pictures of the hardtops are difficult because you cannot see the full effect of the natural carbon fiber.

If you have further questions, please contact us @ 262-593-2800 by email @ tech-staff@kingmotorsports.com

Cheers!

Scott

Scott, when is the fiberglass tops supposed to be produced?

Carbon fiber is just so fricking expensive. I could by a used civic for a second car with the amount on the list price for the CF top.
