The windows plastic!!??!? So the entire top shows carbon fiber right? You could just leave as that and not paint if you wanted carbon look?

The window doesn't look plastic to me, but $5000 is still just too much money for it. Yes, it's a nice piece (although I wouldn't leave the area behind the window unpainted - it looks out of place), but it's only about 5 lbs lighter than the honda aluminum unit and it's $2000+ more expensive (Honda unit is $3000 and I get 20% off of Honda parts). And the Honda unit is already way overpriced. Personally, I wouldn't even consider it as a possibility for over $4000. Just my .02

I dig the spoiler - it compliments the lines very well, and gives a bit of downforce that the car needs at higher speeds, but for 600 bucks unpainted, sounds ilke a lot for such a small piece.

When I spoke with King awhile ago they told me it had a plastic rear window. They said it might be possible to replace it with glass.

$5,000 is too much, $4,000 is too much too but I might consider it at that price.

Anything above 3000 is too much for a hardtop. I don't give a damn what it's made out of. I'll be buying the OEM hardtop. At least it's paint matched from the factory for the price of 3000.

$US5000 for a hard top?
That's crazy!
Carbonfibre is expensive but not that expensive.
The material cost $500 at most for the top.
You can buy carbonfibre cheaply at aerospace
supply shop.
Just the name mugen cost you $3000!

$5,000???? unpainted? I don't think so. But post more pictures when it's all put back together.

wilecoyote-

I don't think you can get a high pressure autoclave for $3000, although you can try.

Jason Saini-

One of these days we're going to meet up. We have WAY too many friends in common for it not to happen...

Mikey-

Why do you want the hard top to look like the soft top? What would that accomplish?

I think the Mugen Carbon Fiber top is nicer than Honda's top. Honda's top looks like a Miata top while the Mugen unit has a sleeker look. Let's just wait for tommorow when Honda is supposedly making an announcement on the hardtop, then we can compare prices and see if the carbon top is worth it.
