Default Mugen Intake Knock-off on eBay

Link

No mention (read: omission) of cutting hood.
No guarantees or warrantees (on fitment?).
Sold as is. No return or exchange.
No mention of installation hardware (bracket, bolt, etc.)

Seems pretty shady...

I noticed that too. When it hit $200, I lost interest pretty quickly.

I was reading his feedback. They have been selling on eBay for a long time (Feb 2000). They are also located in Hong Kong. From reading their own comments on the 6 negitive feedbacks they have, it is clear that english is not their first language.

Let me quote their e-bay listing

I quess that "~" means shipping?

I have always been suprised that Mugen parts had not been knocked off sooner for the S. We have X-Style and Y-Style and now M-Style.

It does seem to have a higher quality finish than the Mugen though.

If I wasn't so busy with work and college, I would make knock-offs of the mugen intake. It is a VERY simple mold design. I'm guessing that I could easily make 5 to 6 per day after a few molds are made. But as I say again, I just don't have time. These intakes could be made for less than $60 in supplies. There isn't much carbon fiber involved. I also have experience using carbon fiber because we had to use it to make repairs to our UAV's wings in the Army. The whole fuselage was made of CF. If you can successfully use fiberglass, you can also use CF, it's basically the same thing but easier.

Big Ben, if you ever make some knock off mugen intakes, I'd buy one.

If I ever made any, I'd probably sell them for about $150. BUT, I don't plan on making any anytime soon so don't get excited. Maybe in a year or two. I may experiment with it a little. All it is is a two piece mild that is then glued or "resined" together after the two pieces are made. It's not a very complex piece at all. I don't understand why no one else has made them yet.

Making the carbon fiber piece is the least of the labor. Don't forget the funnel-like piece, clamp and all the custom brakets that fits perfectly with existing holes on the car. Just ask cdelena about the trouble he went through when he brought a genuine one without brackets.

It's certainly doable, but there's quite a bit of work to put together a complete, ready-to-install package.
