Default Is Mugen worth it?

Is it really worth it to order parts from Mugen? It might be a newb question but the only thing I've applied on my S2k was a paint job an a rear spoiler.

Worth can only be determined by you. As far as quality and testing done on their products. Not many other companies can make claims that Mugen can. Is it expensive? Yes!

It depends on what your budget is and what you're going for.

IMO, Mugen is a top quality brand name. Much of the money you pay goes towards exclusivity, not R&D or quality. Of course I'm not saying their quality is poor, by any means.

Some of their stuff is worth the price, imo..

some of it is simply over priced with the name on it...

Look at it this way, what companies have the most experience tuning Honda's? What parts are going to make a difference if it is a brand name or a generic?

some of their engineering design on suspension parts, I don't think is 'best'...

What do you think you get when you pay $27 for a Mugen oil filter?

mugen is 'best' for the application it has decided to aim its parts toward.. there are plenty of different goals people have when modding their s2ks and mugen is a very good blend of performance and driveability and has become more and more popular.. it does not make the most extreme parts however so people who really want to race this car should look at each individual part and not worry too much about brand matching.. there are plenty of better suspensions as well as intakes and exhausts that have potential to make more power.. i don't like the mugen wheels at all or the 3 piece spoiler.. mugens strongest asset are its bumpers imo because of their look and fit as well as the undisputed wind tunnel numbers made on hondas own in-house machines.. i hear that cwest and others are starting to use wind tunnel testing more so who knows if mugens design will remain the favorite forever.. gotta love the big smiley face look tho

So then a Boxster is better then the S2000?

Mugen is high quality but it is also bling. I mean they sell Gold colored oil filters at 300% markup, and don't forget gas cap covers and front license plate bolts

That being said, I bought their exhaust because to me it was worth it. I could have easily gotten a Fuji (half the price) or paid more and got the Amuse (lighter and another $500+) but the Mugen was a good compromise. Was it worth the extra $700 over the Fuji? Probably not, but it was the exhaust I wanted.

Since these mods give practically nothing in terms of hp, just get whatever makes YOU happy and don't worry about brand names. Remember, any money saved can always go towards HPDE which will make you a whole lot faster in this car.
