Default MY 05 NEW S

05 berlina

Delivery with 3 miles on it. Dealer did a lousy job prepping the car, and I shouldn't have let them wax it. Other than that they treated me like a king (well I bought an 05 Pilot too so maybe thats why.)

Car fits me like a glove. I absolutely love it. This car is one of the best kept secrets in today's auto world.

This car gets way more looks than my 04 M3. I was surprised. Driving it home from the dealer, I noticed people turning their heads to look at it as they passed me on the left.

Questions for the veterans:

1. For quick top down jaunts, do you put the cover on?
2. When placing the cover, I have trouble with the snaps behind the seats (step 1). Is there a trick to getting them both to snap in place. It seems I try to stretch it on and I cant get both to snap in at the same time.
3. When do you guys do your first oil change? Are you using synthetic?
4. What special soft top care do I need to be doing.

Thanks guys.

No. I think I put the cover on exactly once, just to make sure it worked. I'm not even sure where I have it stored.

I have to admit it looks good in your pictures, though ... and that wax job looks great in the photos.

The OEM oil has special additives - probably molybdenum - to help prep the engine. Honda recommends leaving it in for the full interval - 7500 miles for normal driving.
okay this topic is probably beaten to death and answered to death, but since we are on the subject of oils. has anyone actually went the 7500 miles before the first oil change?

Make sure you read the "oil journals" in the "under the hood" section. xviper, road rash and others have done a tremendous job advising on why you should keep the "break in" oil in for the prescribed interval. Also, wait until after 10k to use synthetic. Tons of great info there.

Car looks awesome. Black when clean does the s2k right.

good luck with it.

I use the cover about half the time and yes it is a bit difficult. My previous car was an 2002 black bmw330i and I loved the black until my x-cat decided to sharpen its claws on it. I like the silverstone just as much and it takes a little less work. S2000 in black is a thing of beauty.

I'm not there yet, but it won't be too long. I plan to switch directly to a synthetic at that point, too.
