My broken differential pics...
Clutch:
I have nothing but praise for the ACT Heavy Duty Pressure Plate and Street Disc. I noticed with the new clutch that it grabbed harder when shifting, I will chirp 1st through 3rd gear. I do currently think that this alters the weak point in the drivetrain. Your clutch is supposed to be the weak point, but now after upgrading the clutch won't slip, so the power is transfered down the line, to the LSD and Axles. Someone suggested maybe not dropping the clutch with the ACT clutch, but letting is slide out - maybe it doesn't need the hard drop that the stock setup needed to go fast...I didn't get a chance to try this before I messed up the diff. I think I'll be experimenting once I get my car back.
LSD:
I talked with the guy at Kaaz about the differential early last week. I asked a few broad questions, then got specific. One thing I learned is that the Kaaz LSD has it's own clutch inside it. I asked the guy, "Is there anything about the Kaaz LSD that would make me stop snapping axles?" The guy said, "I've had many guys tell me that they stopped snapping axles after they put our LSD in. I assume it's because it has its own clutch and it helps to lessen the force on the LSD and the axles." (paraphrased) So, it's possible that this may do the trick, I'm pretty sure I'll be the first to know

Damn... that picture is painful..i have not seen a diff like that since my friend reved my tahoe to 4k then throw the shifter in to drive with 38inch tires
i know that when i had my truck there was aftermarket companies making custom ring and pinion gears.. out of very solid materials.. it was for trucks but... could they build something for smaller cars like ours????

Another alternative is Cusco ... Since you've upgraded your clutch, a Cusco LSD will be a good match as well. Cusco is well known for making handling improving hardware. A 1.5 way LSD good for grip through corners while a 2 way LSD good for drifting it through corners. Good luck!
Does anyone know what part failed in the above pics? Was it the cap bolts, the caps or something else? I can't tell from the pics.
Wesmaster, could you take another pic of all the small broken parts layed out on some white paper?

The center ring (not sure what the technical name is) was snapped in half. The two legs on the housing snapped off. And there is a large whole in the housing.
I don't have the pieces, they're at the dealership, or maybe thrown out by now.

A bit off topic, but I thought I would mention it. It is a real pleasure to see Wesmaster examining the problem and looking for a fix. I can only imagine the reaction of a number of people if this happened to them (i.e. "Honda won't warrantee my differential even though I was doing multiple 8000rpm clutch drops and have a blower on the engine!!!!") Wes likes to drag his car, and he put a blower on it. Not terrribly shocking when the differential blows up. But does he complain or get upset with honda? Nope, he fixes the problem with parts that will let him do what he wants to do with the car. Kudos for your attitude Wes!
