Default My car is being built today!

I was told that my car begins construction today, and I'd like to ask if this sounds plausible. This is what the dealer told me: my S2000 was scheduled to begin construction today and it would take a day or two. Then, they have to wait until enough S2000s and CRVs are built (because these are the only Hondas made in Japan for the US) to load on a boat. Then two weeks by boat to Portland, Oregon, then two weeks by rail to Virginia.

So, it looks like I am looking to take delivery around the beginning of May. Does this sound kosher to you guys?

certainly in Japan the dealer knows the construction date as he has to book the order into the production schedule.

Sounds pretty close to reality.

Mine was shipped Jan 23rd, arrived in Cleveland on Feb 14th, so just over 3 weeks total (boat and train). I expect shipping to VA would be within a day or two of that.

I don't know the exact build date, so I can't speak about the delay between build and shipping, but you might be looking at mid-April if you're lucky.

When you get a VIN, PM Utah S2K - he can give you a better idea of delivery dates. He got mine within 2 days (he estimated Feb 16th).

Hang in there - you're almost there!

Yeah, I was told I would get a VIN soon after it was built.... I've been reading these boards for about a week now - man, I can't wait!! I've already been busy buying mod stuff and I still have 4 weeks to go, how crazy is that? LOL

Oh No, bad news bud. Today is "Respect for Sake Masters Day" (a loose translation) in Japan. That's a worse build day than a Friday in Detroit.

Just kidding...

I haven't "bought" anything yet... that is, I haven't signed any papers or given them any money yet. Well, I did give them a check for $500 but told them to not cash it until the car arrived. So far, it hasn't been deposited. This one has just been "reserved" (my word) for me.

OK, I hate buying new cars and dealing with all the crap.... you just never know when the dealers are being honest or slinging you a line of BS...
