I will try calling my dealer in the next few days to see about a VIN. But I have a question (or three), are you supposed to get a VIN before the car is built? And does the dealer get the VIN as soon as construction is completed? Oh, and long does it take to build a S2000? Thanks....

 

I just bought my new 02 blu in Nebraska. It is sitting patiently in a dealer warehouse in Nebraska for it's new daddy in May. CONGRATS!!

I put a $500 deposit down on an 02' S2000 2 weeks ago. The sales manager brought out a book with all the S2000 allocations that they will receive this year. He showed me the build date for the vehicle (March 26) and said it takes about a week to build the car. Then he said it takes about a month for it to get to the dealership. The car has to travel, get through customs...etc. I needed the VIN # ASAP so I could get my loan taken care of but the dealership wasn't able to give me the VIN until the build date. Once I get the VIN I can take care of my loan through my credit union. I can't wait to get the car! I think about the damn thing everyday!

Hey ChiS2K, your situation sounds like mine! I have been reading everyone's posts of how much fun they are having in their S2000s, and I can't wait! I was told that after the car is built it might have to sit around for a while until the boat has enough cars, so..... I am just planning on mid-May for mine. I'll let you know when mine comes in, your's should be right behind mine.

Or, if you are lucky, then they will go on the boat together, and you will get your's before mine, since you are closer to the west coast than I am....

Yeah..our vehicles are pretty close in delivery date. The worst part about waiting is how crazy you drive other people around you. I have to find my 'auto enthusiast' friends and talk to them because anyone else would just think i'm obsessed! Another thing....driving my regular car and imagining Im in an S2K Okay so my 98 Altima's 6300RPM redline isn't even close....but hey...need to practice.
