I don't think Canadian law is that tough in this case. The fact that noone was injured, damage below $1000.00 and she now says she thought she hit a lamp post. Leaving the scene is a ticket that carries some demerit points (not sure how many) that has already been assessed.

The police officer tracked her down and got her insurance and all. She has since phoned me to "cooperate". She hopes that I will allow her to settle without involving her insurance. Even though it's only a "few" bucks, if I make an official claim through her insurance, it would go on her file. Her deductible will most likely take care of it but having an accident on record might not bode well for future premium rates if she has or will have other "incidents". Hmmmm! It's nice to have this kind of power and intimidation factor. I'll let her stew on it for a few days. I'll use her insurance for a claim if she proves to be "difficult".

I always knew you had a bit of a vengeful streak in you Xviper hehehe I remember when my dad's station wagon was nailed as he got nailed by someone blowing a stop sign. The guy was trying to blow it off, but my dad didn't relent and nailed that guy's ass to the wall and his insurance covered the repairs and also had a "property damage due to negligent driving" in his insurance

As I was reading this post I was waiting to read about hitting a wall or something. Ending up, it was a lamp post. Why can she not admit she hit a car. What she is basically saying is that she was not looking where she was backing at all. Just hop in start the engine, slam it in reverse and go.
This is for her----

Consider yourself lucky. Give the poor girl a break, after all it does look like a light post - right? Oh well, she probably has learned her lesson. Don't wash your plates. Any wipe lase, back pain, neck pain? Weren't you bending down to pick up something at the time? Anyways, I'm glad you got her, same thing happened to my wife's car and we got the guy and a new bumper out of it.

she thought she hit a light post? whatever? girl must've originally been from LA. and now she's asking you to do her a favor and not report it to insurance? talk about nerve!

back in high school, this car ran a red light, hit my car and proceeded to try and run away. Me and the witness chased them down tho. And THEN they got pissed when we called the cops. people are so stupid.
