Default My chance of getting a low mileage 2003 AP1...

I've almost got enough cash for my first S2000, and i'm searching for low a mileage 2003 S2000 AP1.

I'm set on the AP1, and from what I understand the 2003 year was the best of the best for the AP1 with all the upgrades the AP1 got, glass rear window, engine bolt upgrade, ext.

My question, what is the lowest mileage 2003 S2000 you've all seen floating around.

The lowest i've found is two examples with about 8000 miles on the odo in the southern states. Am I waisting my time to try and find lower mileage examples that are near new condition? Price is not really an option, but it HAS to be BONE STOCK and well taken care of...garage kept, all maintenance records, non-abused, ext...

Am i shooting for the moon, or do i have a chance?

Thanks kindly,
-mark

I think you might be going a little overboard in your search. Basically it sounds like you're looking for a car that has averaged 1400 miles (or 2350kms) per year. Being garaged for 5 months out of the year it would have to be a car that is driven 50 miles or less each week the other 28 weeks of the year. That is really not very much. We aren't talking about some exotic beauty here that is being preserved because of it's incredible value.

Finding a car that has been that under-used would likely be worse than finding one that has been driven more regularly. I'm really tired right now but I'm sure someone else can elaborate on the types of corrosion and rust buildup that can occur inside the components of a vehicle that has been used on short trips only followed by days or weeks of inactivity.

Most owners drive these cars relatively hard. The engines and other accessories are still seeing 100-200k miles very easily. Find something with 30,000 miles in immaculate condition and enjoy it.

30k is low for a 5 year old car. Come on, 6k/year isn't low enough?

Though there may be a few like that chances are they aren't for sale. I think you're shooting for the moon.

the difference between 5k and 10k can be just a few months of driving for some. i wouldnt sweat it. Look for something under 20k so you have more than just a few cars to look at, and big the best deal or which ever you like most.
