Default Is my clutch slipping?

hi everyone, I have a question about the LED RPM display.

when I go WOT, and shift from 1st to 2nd at 8-9k, the RPM doesn't fall to around 6k immediately. instead, it falls slowly (maybe a second or two). when i shift, i let up on the gas and get back on it WOT after the shift is made. this happens through 4th gear at least (haven't gone WOT into 5th or 6th yet) and i'm wondering if it's just a display thing or actually a clutch slip. i guess it could also be my tires spinning, but i don't hear or feel that. also, under normal driving, i don't feel any clutch slip at all.

do you have any intake modifications or anything map sensor related? sounds like your rpm is lingering. I don't know how much that's related to the clutch slipping (rpm dropping slowly)

You know when your clutch slips when you press on the throttle and the rpm just shoots up without the car moving forwards.

i don't get that at all. the car is fine under normal driving. the "rpm lingering" only occurs when i am WOT and shifting at or close to redline.

i don't have any mods, and i don't have idling problems...but maybe the map sensor needs to be wacked?

one way of knowing that your clutch is slipping is when you shift at WOT and your RPM's climb, but the car doesn't go.

Oh crap ... so THAT'S what it was ... Whenever I redline, and I push the clutch in to shift up, my rpm jumps up right before it drops again, (I'm sure I took off my foot all the way so I know my foot isn't on the gas anymore) DOH!

Your clutch is slipping.

Your post sounded like it's doing something else, but if it's doing under load then it's a sure sign of the clutch slipping.

i don't think the rpm shooting up when you're not on the accelerator is something to do with the clutch, it's usually the map sensor or intake that's pushing in more air in the engine then it should....

but who knows...

hmmm, but my rpm doesn't shoot up. well, my clutch is going on 60k miles, so maybe it's due for a change. also a good chance to get rid of that clutch buzz on the MY00-01 S.
