Somebody walked into my office while I was out for lunch and lifted my Dell Inspiron 7500 with all of my life in it, including all the order information for S2000 goodies. Fortunately, all of the records were backed up on the server, so I should be able to restore them without any problems. This may take until Friday or even until next Monday. So if I do not respond to email or confirm orders for a few days, don't be concerned.

Sorry to hear about that. Hope you can get your "life" back to normal soon.

I carry my Inspiron 7000 a lot of places: office, away meetings, etc. I have to be careful, I realize.

Sorry to hear that. But at least the data is there, which is much more important than the computer itself.

Very sorry to hear that, Rick. That seems a little suspicious since your building is in a good area, is pretty secure, and your office has glass walls...could it be someone from another office in the building? I hate to point fingures but...

Rick,

Sorry to hear about the theft. Do you know how it was stolen? I'm assuming it was at your work. I have heard of pizza delivery guys swiping notebooks out of office buildings by carrying them out in those insolated bags. Just a thought.

I am really sorry to hear this, Rick. I hope that your work is not compromised in any way!

Is there any personal and/or credit card information at risk?

There was a lot at risk: all my account numbers, 9 years of Quicken, etc, etc. I've had to shut down my bank accounts, credit cards, everything that's vulnerable to fraud. I'm convinced it was an inside job. The computer set-up I had (I work standing up) had the machine in a docking station within a large drawer. The thief knew where to go and also pilfered all the peripherals (extra battery, zip drive), which were stashed in other drawers. This was not somebody who just walked in off the street.

A real bummer. I'd shoot the m*f*r if I could find him.

And we will all gladly provide the ammunition, free of charge! Not a problem.

I sure hope that you occupy space in a limited access building. It will sure help to narrow down the list of usual suspects.
