My CR Build Thread!
So what's so "holy grail" about a CR that you can't chop it up? If you get a CR at the same price as the "base" old model, why would you get the "base" old model and chop it up when you can get the CR and chop it up?

I understand buying a CR if you wanted a hardtop anyway, since it's basically the cheapest way to get one. The car looks like it will be a blast to drive, and I hate to be too critical of anyone else's taste. But let's just say I would never do that to a CR.
Also, there's something really cool about having a mint stock DC2-R, NSX, hell even a EK Si, but there are always going to be the people who are wanting more, to do different things. I happen to be one of them.
But yeah, maybe one day I'll buy another CR and just leave it stock, lol.
zzziippyyy: Yes it is like that from the factory, you just don't see it cause the under fender cover plastic covers it all up.
DjPNOiBOi: Thank you sir, guys like you make me keep this up! I hope you enjoy the end product.

He had already answered this towards the end of the 2nd page, said he got a really good deal on it. Also wanted to start with a better platform to end up with a better car.
Though he has taken out everything but the hard top that makes it a CR so I still hope what he paid works out to be a good price vs. a AP2 or such.
This is an incredibly fast build, you see a lot of threads with "hey this is my build" and usually it either stalls out or comes to fruition over a decent length of time. It is looking pretty good. Curious about that overspray though shown in previous pics. Can't wait to see some video of this thing on a dyno then out in the open.

Honestly though, I'm starting to run out of money in my bank, so this thread might stall out for a month or two. I might hold off on paint for now as I try to acquire more things, but I might not, it's one of those things that I have to just wait and see.
Also what do you guys think of keeping the same yellow? I think I'm going to keep it the same yellow cause of the engine bay and whatnot, but I might just add a bit more pearl to the outside. My body guy is going to come down in two weeks to check it out and give me a quote on the car.
Here's an update, car is at the exhaust shop so they can build me something that's going to work, I do have a few pictures though with almost everything mounted on, including the hood. The drive to the exhaust shop was great, even though everything was barely on, I was already turning heads, *but it could be cause it was open downpipe too*

I ended up getting a set of the TEIN hood struts, not really needed, but it looks good I think.

Looks good the only reason people are saying that is due to there being so few CR's in the first place that is kind of what holds me back. i know down the road this car would be worth more if i kept it mint stock. But i am going to mod mine as well not as much as the op has but thats also due to funds and different tastes.
You can always just keep the stock parts, and go back to stock if you plan to sell it. I mean if funds are an issue, than stay NA, and just do NA mods which are pretty much bolt on.
All it takes is a garage, tools, a few friends, and a few beers to do all major bolt on mods. And not only will you save in labor, but you'll have experience to now.

Well like I said before, I saved for a few years before this whole build, I just didn't know what I was going to get. So I had some money in the bank for awhile gaining a bit of interest.

What makes a CR?
It's not the hard top. That's been exactly the same for all years of the S2000.
There's the wing and front bumper. Gone.
There's the spring / shock combination. Gone.
There's the wheels / tires. Gone.
There's the tighter turning ratio: Same as AP1.
There's the engine: Same as AP2v2.
What's left? The rear brace in place of the soft top? You can get a bar welded in there or buy a replacement bar for cheap. Swaybars? Probably need to be changed / upgraded for the wheel / tire / spring rates.
I don't think it's bad to start with a CR as a platform. And I don't think it's blasphemy to dismantle one. But I do think you could wind up with essentially the same car for ~$10k less.
I'd rather have a modified AP1 than a half-built CR due to finances running dry.
