also, did the vtec kick on when yoiu hit 6? if the oil level is too low it wont even let the vtec kick on right?

my s2k is a 03, brand new, only a month and a half old. Vtec did kick in for a good second before i lost power, oil levels are just as they should be.

sound's to me as you should check legal advise in this matter because as it's been said they (dealer) need to prove without a doubt that you indeed did over rev your motor causing it to blow but that is were you're legal counsil should be educated to know that your car has a rev limiter so it should not be able to over rev except by an accidental down shift into a wrong gear notice rev limiter safety parameter's to help us as a consumer keep our precious car's on the road longer GOOD LUCK.

nabarev, just curious, this probably doesnt have anything to do with your case, and shouldnt affect anything, but how often did your motor see 9k rpms, and what was the highest speed you ever went in the car?

i dont understand why people do that on here though..... its not like we are the dealership and we will be voiding the warranty work, or is it a pride thing?
