Default My Eyelids

Ok, I just found out that my eyelids are painted on.

Apparently the person that owned the car before me painted them on. I dont think any sanding was done though.

What is the easiest way for me to remove them, or can I at all? I suppose if I try to remove them and it looks shitty I can always order a set of eyelids and re-install them.

Would paint thinner work? Acetone? I am not happy about this.

So, the headlights themselves were painted? Why would someone do that? Maybe you can swap headlights with someone else who likes the look and has the same color.

do not use acetone or paint thinner. it will melt the plastic headlight housing. there really is no way to remove paint from the headlights without scratching the plastic.

i'd say you're going to have to order a new set of headlamps

That sucks man. I've never liked the look of eyelids I'd be very upset. Try to find a local club member who has a porter cable or better yet, a rotory. Use an extremely aggressive polish and slowly eat away at the clearcoat, paint, and finally you'll eat through the paint. It's going to take awhile but you can do it. I suggest posting in the wash&wax forum for more help.

Yeah, you can sand them off and then repolish the headlights back to a luster. Look for the threads where people refinished their fogged up headlamp housings.
