My First Track Day
What on earth, why is this in the gallery and on S2000 talk! It was in the track and competition forum too, but that got moved. I swear I didn't double post, perhaps there is a way to merge the two threads?
Thanks for the comments guys!

Great writeup. I was the same way last year, when I decided to take the plunge and install a roll bar in my car. I did so after hearing my mechanic describe his experiences as he was learning at the track (he is in HPDE3 now). I put my stock AP2 wheels back on with decent tires (Hankook V12), changed the fluids, and put better pads and rotors on, and went out. The local track S2000 guys made things really comfortable for me and even saved me a spot in the paddock next to them. Your description of the actual driving experience is spot on. It is a thrill to be barreling 100+ down the straight and apply the brakes harder than you ever would out on the street with only a couple hundred feet of tarmac remaining, before whipping the car toward the apex of the turn (without the distractions of oncoming traffic, speed limits, etc. which you don't want because driving like this takes full concentration). I only wish I had started years earlier!
I also noticed after a couple track days I now view mods differently. I don't need anything to increase the power of the car...I need to improve the driver first! I also get the function > form thing a lot more. Who cares if it's JDM...does it actually aid in performance? And wheels with low offsets? Absolutely pointless if you cannot put on a proper sized tires. A lot of the new younger generation of owners are still in the Civic mentality...try and make it look fast but in reality it's even slower, and they think they can drive, because they can weave in and out of traffic or approach 150 on the freeway, but they can't. Hopefully a post like this will convince some of those hellaflush fools to really use the S2000 like it was made for...driving not parking!
OP do you have plans to attend more events this year?

Joey, I agree with you. I supercharged my old AP2 before ever going to the track. After my first track day, I wish I had spent all that supercharger money on track days instead. My AP1 is staying N/A with limited mods until I become a faster driver. Your first few track days really change you mentality on things, at least it did for me.
