Default My NEW Ricks diffuser MELTED! Bulb Warning

DO NOT use the Polarg B1 Hybrid M-5 amber bulb while using ricks clear diffuser. after just a few hours these bulbs burned a nice hole in my diffuser I'm well angry after taking all the care in the world to put those lights together I now have a hole on one side, luckily I forgot to put the other side on or i'd have matching hole. so beware and dont make the same mistake i did.

Which light did you use that Polarg bulb for? I looked it up and the M-5 is the wrong bulb for either the parking light or the turn signal. If you're looking for an amber bulb for the parking light, Sylvania makes a 194NA (Normally Amber) that fits fine and is cheap. For the turn signal, I found some amber T20 bulbs made by APC at the local Autozone and so far, that's worked fine.

Actually, looking at some pictures on the web, it looks like the M-5 bulb will only fit the parking light. In that case, it's rated for 18W which is seems high for a parking light. If you did have the Polarg M-5 in the parking light, that could probably explain why it melted. We ended up using a type-194 bulb which is only 5W.

Hope this helps.

If high temps are a concern, you can go with an LED solution.

The proper Polarg fitments for our car when fitted with Rick's diffusers are as listed below. Note, these are to maintain the stock amber color after putting the clear diffuser on. If you need a different color then you're on your own.

Front Parking Light (194 amber) --> Polarg M20
Front Turn Signal (7440 amber) --> Polarg M1

The Sylvania 194NA (amber) is commonly available at most auto parts stores and works fine. Finding the 7440 bulbs in amber is usually more difficult although some people have been able to do so.

I use the 194 LED bulbs the you can get at Autozone.
They are clear until you turn them on, then they are
amber. And they run cooler than an incandesent.
