Default My oil pan is cracked

I just realized that my oil pan has the tiniest crack right where the drain plug is. It is just big enough to leak oil. Several has suggested I have it custom welded shut. Should I do that, or should I just try to find somebody who has a cheap one for sale that has possibly upgraded theres? Any suggestions is greatly needed.

alot of people think they have cracks when it could just be casting lines in the pan. What you should do is clean the entire area on the oil-pan and ground. and see where the oil is coming from. it could just be a bad washer or drain plug. Can you take a picture of it?

No, it has a small crack. Valvolilne let me go under into their bay to look at it. We cleaned it off and tried some JB weld, but it wouldn't stick to that surface, even after cleaning with alcohol. I just dont know if it would be easier to have it custom welded or to buy somebodies used one, because school is getting ready to start, and I need book money. If at all possible, I am going to try to avoid buying a brand new one. Thanks

its hard to weld aluminum. i bet it cracked because some other oil change tech torqued it too tightly...always do your oil changes yourself. i'd go to the honda dealer parts dept and order a new oil pan

Yea, I think I know what might have caused it. I posted in Tell Honda about a month ago, about how they replaced my wheel studs and then took it for a test drive and drug it coming back into the parking lot. It was so steep it buckled my front bumper and broke some clips. It wouldn't suprise me if the F*ck-tard did that too. I beleive this because there are a few minor scrape marks in that area, and I have never drug it, because common sense tells you to go up hills at an angle, not dead center, haha. I guess i'll post in WTB and see if maybe somebody who has upgraded might want to get rid of theres.

I would get it welded. Any decent welder should have no problem welding aluminum.

....Or time to pick up a lightly used one on the cheap from someone that has two of them in the Chicago area and is willing to ship.
