Default My S was backed into

I had a moron back into me yesterday at McDonalds. I was in the drive through line and a guy in a truck claimed he never say me. He started the truck up. I watched the brake lights and then the reverse lights come on and then as im laying into my horn which he ignored and also ignored his own back up alarm. So i watched him back right into me. Anyways theres a dent in the rear quarter above the tire. The body shop wants to fix the dent and then try and blend the paint on the side into the back and onto the door. Well, im not cool with having my paint blended. I know it looks like ass and im not cool with it. Being that its his fault and all the time and effort i have into this car, Im going to try and make his insurance company repaint the entire car. Seeing as how he just killed the value of the car and i refuse to look at blended paint everyday forever as a result. His and my insurance companies seem to both be ok with my request for a full repaint. My question is has anyone had this happen and requested the same? Will they do as a ask and repaint the whole car? Also if they will im thinking of trying to have them paint it imola orange. GPW was nice but i want imola if i can get a full repaint and the color change. Im ok with leaving the bay and the trunk white. Just want the whole outside and door jambs painted imola.

well then you should just get the quote for a whole respray, and then just talk to the body shop about the color

I would imagine you would have to throw some $ on top

It wasnt my fault though. IMO its only fair that they repaint the whole car and fix it to my liking since this a** just ruined my clean title car

Well thats not how insurance works. They will fix it so it LOOKS close enough to the same. I seriously doubt you will get a full repaint and almost guarantee you won't get a color change if you do.

That is, unless you add some cash on top.

Yea. Insurance companies arnt in the business of giving money away. They will do the least amount possible so I doubt you'll get a free repaint let alone a new color.

It doesn't mean it will not happen though. It's worth a shot IMO

I figured they mat not work that way, but i also find it unacceptable that my mint clean title car would have to be "touched up" and blended which will look like crap and will make me hate the car. So i sell it, well now its not a clean title and isnt worth as much. So they should have to fix it to my satisfaction right? Theres no way new white will match 10 year old white. No way. And im not cool with looking at that everyday.

Don't settle for some blend bs, tell them right away that you want it to look exactly like it looked before he backed up into you, and you know blending won't match.
Don't settle for half and half either, make the insurance pay the ENTIRE amount.

After doing a google search on the subject, everyone seems to say the same as im thinking. Make them do a full repaint. A blend will never look right, especially on older paint. It wasnt my fault after all. And with 100s of hours of my own labor and many 1000s invested into it, its bull to only get a touch up and blend after some fool backed into me. Hes at fault, my car should be fixed the way i want it so that im happy with it. It should look just as it did before it was hit, like it never even was. Right?

I am pretty sure you wont be able to have the whole thing repainted but you could use that money towards a new paint job. In my personal experience I have had spots blended and I haven't noticed anything and that was with a 13 year old black car which is probably one of the harder colors to match. Hope your car gets fixed and it looks like it did before.

I had my passenger fender resprayed after I fudged it up wet sanding it like a noob. Anyways, I went to a reputable shop that does quality work and matched the color. Of course they were expensive but, the color was an 100% match on my 05.

On a bad experience: I recall my frost white 00 gsr had to get resprayed because some on backed into my 1/4 panel similar to what happen to your S and went to a shop nearby and the color didn't match at all. The shop looked a bit sketchy and no temp control paint booths. I seriously wish I spent more time finding that shop that did top notch work. Ask to see some previous work or current repairs.

Best of luck to you and find a shop that does great work.

Heres photos of the wetsanding attempt to fix a rock chip on passenger fender that ultimately ended up in me burning the clear and me taking the touch up paint off after and just deciding to respray the fender.

After the respray from a reputable shop, 100% match and I am completely satisfied with the job they've done. I am very anal about things when it comes to paint etc. My advice to you is find a really good shop.

I'll see about getting better photos tomorrow. Good Luck wish you the best in getting your car repaired.
