If you want a full respray anyway you are better off getting a high estimate from a high end shop, getting insurance to cut you a check for the repair and then using that plus $$$ to have a shop spray the entire car for you.

I'd get it blended under the condition that if it doesn't come out to your standards, they will do a complete respray.
That way, it is a win-win.

As for a complete color change, that's a whole other ball o' wax. It's nothing I'd ever reconsider because it his a BIG job that has to be done right (read very expensive). That car would always be a re-color to me in every way and it would kill resale value unless it were some spectacular, special paint.

Good luck.

Even if you get the entire car repainted, I would recommend going with the original color so it won't be so obvious that it has been repainted if somebody looks under the hood or in any other area that wasn't repainted.

i had a simalar thing happen, i was backed into in the rear quarter panel in my civic. i doing body work on it at the time and all paint was already sanded off. While i was getting my quote, there looking at the damage and said "so im guessing your gonna want it painted right?" i said yes and i got a quote for $1500. I fixed the dent myself in about 30 minutes and was extremly happy with it!Payed for the paint, primer, clearcoat etc. btw this is the only body place that said that, i even told other places i wanted it fully resprayed and they said they cant since there wasnt any paint on it anyway, guess i got lucky.

I'll probly just go with repainting in white. But its not turning into an insurance battle since the rookie cop didnt fault anyone cus hes an idiot.

Good luck. A friend of mine recently had a truck towing a boat merge into his vehicle. At the scene of the accident the other guy admitted fault and handed over his insurance information... but a police report was not filed. Once insurance started getting involved the guy who was at fault started claiming it wasn't his fault and since there was no proof otherwise my friend will be left paying for his own damages.

Yeah its turned into an insurance battle with my situation. He admitted fault to the officer but the newb didnt put that on the report. His insurance company now denied my claim as a result. Luckily i have a "fighter" from my insurance who is going to battle it out with them so that i dont have to pay out of pocket myself then wait for it to go to arbitration to get my money back.

So lets say i end up with just a touch up and blend. How much should i request the insurance company pay out to cover the depreciated value?
