Default My S reassembled wrong???

Not sure if this should go here or in Car Talk, but... I just had some clutch work done on my MY2000. The transmission had to be pulled. I got the car back today and when I tried to put my briefcase in the trunk I noticed that the formed cardboard/pressboard piece that holds the tools was not down in the well properly. It refused to go down flat. Then I noticed that there was a bulge in the center of the trunk well -- a solid feeling hump, that was preventing the tool carrier from lying flat. A service rep couldn't explain it, and the shop foreman who had worked on the car was gone for the day. After being assured that I would get a call asap about it, and that the dealership would take responsibility if anything went wrong, I drove off. And immediately noticed that the road noise and transmission noises were much louder than usual, all seeming to come up through the console, around the shifter. Anybody have any ideas about what could be wrong??? Thanks!

Raise hell in the dealership. You may earn yourself a replacement S2000.

a dealership is more likely to spend 40-50k in repairs than to give him a replacement...one way or another, honda should take care of it

Sounds like somebody put a jack under the trunk well to jack the car up and pushed it in. I've read previous posts about that happening.

I will jump on the jack bandwagon. Not sure of the extra tranny noise though. There are things around the tranny to help prevent noise to the cabin I am sure so it is possible they missed something. Defenitly take it abck and get them to look it over.

Thanks for the suggestions (esp the butthole ripping...!); I'm taking it back in this morning. I'll post what was wrong. I could tell from the tone in their voice it was useful to mention the possibility of bad jacking... at least puts them on defensive.

It could be worse. You could have been given a ZipLock bag with leftover parts when you came to pick up your car. That has happened twice within our HouStook community when being serviced at the dealership.
