my S is slower than my previous S?
Hi guys,
I used to own a MY00. After 3 yrs working abroad, now I own a MY 02 which I just bought not long ago. Still love the car
but somehow I feel that my current 02 revs "slower" in vtec, and the vtec kick in is not as strong as my previous S, or as my friend put it "not as intense"...
Some friends told me it's all in my head, I don't know. I think maybe the my current S didn't break in properly? What do you guys think?

I believe the '00 and '01 S2000's have the "kick feel" more than the later years due to their tune. You will feel the vtec kick more, but not actually faster. Don't know about the whole revving quicker and all.
It must be the butt dyno, having had all the years up to 03, I always thought my 02 was the fastest. My dad has a 00, he swears mine is faster, i have a fipk and exhaust but he has driven both of them.

check throttle cable
When I first got my S2000 I drove it for a while before checking the throttle cable. Once I tightened that up it made a real nice difference. Takes 1 minute to do as well so definitely worth checking it.
i'll echo most of the other posts: better/revised tuning and the throttle cable are two possible culprits. 02 is typically faster than 00, untuned stock vs stock.
but how have you been commuting in the meantime? that must have had some effect on your perception. obviously if you've been taking a lear jet to work, your perception would have changed so you might not feel vtec as well as you used to.

Yeah or a car that has torque. After driving my high hp eclipse gst for a year or so and then buying an S2000 it felt extremely slow like a civic even in vtec. Got more used to it now, still not very fast but feels much better than at first power wise.
Still miss being able to just punch the throttle at any rpm and take off.
