Thanks Mike, I will definatly book now for the end of February.
OK, great.

As to your question, the answer is "it depends". The car will always be most stable when you are being smooth and consistant in your inputs. But there is a traction limit for any corner, and if you exceed that limit then Sir Isaac Newton will start driving your car instead of you.

Don't ever let your right foot off the throttle if you're mid turn at high speeds...

When I am really "driving" I have noticed myself talking also. And I feel like I am just squeezing the throttle open as I exit the corner. That feeling of "waiting and waiting" is so true. But I think that is when I am the fastest. It's not a WOT out of a corner it's more like a feeling of gradually pulling the car out of the corner with throttle. Smooth inputs make for a much better( ie faster) corner.

Getting off the throttle is just like getting on the throttle. If you're using up all the grip in cornering, there is none left for either acceleration or deceleration. You have to unwind the steering as you change the throttle setting, regardless of whether you're adding or subtracting throttle. Being smooth and coordinating the action with the steering is the way to keep it all under control.

Getting off the throttle suddenly is actually *worse* than getting on the throttle too hard and too soon, because in addition to the forces the rear tires have to deal with, you also have forward weight transfer. To avoid a slide you have to be VERY smooth with the throttle release, and it can be tricky. Lifting the throttle as the back end starts to slide only makes the situation worse.

It is also possible to get the tail to slide out in a controlled manner by easing off the throttle mid turn.

The best way to learn the car is to go to a driving school/autocross event and do it in a safe environment. You will learn more about your car there than on any street. There is a time and place for everything

Talking myself through parts of a course improves my consistency, which untimately translates into better times. LOL, I have also been known to utter a few profanities when I tip over a pylon.

Who is the ba$tard that invented the pylon? Sometimes I don't have the nicest things to say about him also. To the OP take your time and learn your car slowly. Like the others have said go to a school. She can be a cruel mistress. When she is good it is OOOHH so good but when she is bad watch out she can be VERY bad!

get into some autox, dont try to learn on streets or empty parking lots, thats both bad advice, illegal and dangerous

do it in a safe environement

keep it really easy in the rain, i avoid vtec if its raining out, ive started going sideways on way too many on ramps
