My S2000 almost drowned
So there was a torrential downpour today, and I'm watching carefully for any hail (I was going to run the S across the street to the gas station to avoid any hail damage). Someone from the other side of the office comes over to my desk and asks if I'm parked out front, which I was, and he says I need to move my car right now. So I jump up, and on my way out he tells me that the water is almost up to my doors.
So I run outside and sure enough my car is sitting in water almost up to the bottom edge of the door. I managed to park in the lowest point in the entire parking lot.
I moved the car and took it over to the gas station to check the carpet, etc. The drivers side is soaked, but I think that's from me since my shoes were full of water when I jumped in the car. The passenger side is dry.
Should I have the differential checked? I wonder if it could have been sitting in water, and if so I wonder if any water could have gotten in there? Is there anything else I should look out for?
Thanks,
Dave

Your diff should be fine as well as anything else under the car. If water can get in the diff, then you have a more serious problem since it suppose to be sealed. Other than smelly carpets, I can't think of anything that might be bad.
Your undercarriage should be just fine. However, I'd pay extra attention to make sure you get the interior complete dried out. You wouldn't want water trapped under the carpets which could lead to some rust in there.
I dunno about this car, but this happened to my miata, and the silt in the water clogged the drain holes for the soft top. Every time it rained, those drains backed up and flooded the car. I had to snake the out with a coat hanger until I could get ahold of an air gun to blow them out.

Cool, thanks all for the input. I used a towel to get as much water as I could out of the carpet, and I'm going to try to run the air on high all directed at the feet on my way home from work. The shopvac might work good too.
I've noticed a stench while sitting here at my desk with my wet nasty feet and pants. I'm REALLY hoping there wasn't any sewage in that water...

Yeah, I'm a little worried about the mold. I know of someone who got their carpet wet like this and they never did get the musty smell out.
I'm definitely getting the shop vac out today and sucking the hell out of that carpet.
Worst case scenario, I'll have to buy new carpet...
I don't think there was any sewage in the water, I think that my feet just stank yesterday and the water made it worse.

I am still trying to vacuum all of the water out of it.
