Default My s2000 caught fire!

I took my s2000 through a drive through car wash, everything was good untill i was driving and i smelled burning plastic so i pulled over and poped the hood and my fuse box was on fire! and some wire around it. so now my one headlight wont work, and my car wont run or anything, i was just wondering if anyone has heard of this happining before? or how much this will cost to get fixed...........

That sucks.

But now we have evidence that drive-thru-car-washes and S2000s don't mix!

after a closer look, it looks like the one big wire coming from the headlight caught fire at the conector under the fuse box. I hope they dont have to replace the whole wiring harness to fix it. and does anyone know if there is a way to put up my windows manually? when it happend my windows were down and now they wont go back up. Thanks.

I believe that it actually states in the owner's manual not to take the car through a car wash.

It sounds like some water got into some loose wires and caused a short circuit. The spark created by the short circuit set something on fire. This could happen to any car. It doesn't sound like an s2000 specific problem.

you should have a case against the owner of the car wash, as it was obviously defective (not supposed to fry you electronics!). He should have known this and warned you. If not against the owner, that the manufacturer. A Couple people here in Tallahassee won similar suits because the carwash snagged on their rear spoilers and ripped them off.

I don't think this a good case against the car wash. It would be similar to suing the car wash for water damage if your windows were rolled down. Illegitimate claims drive up everyone's insurance premiums.

My lowered car wouldn't make it through a car wash if I wanted. If it's only a main cable that fried, there's chance that a replacement cable can be grafted on. If you take it to Honda, they'll probably suggest a new harness...
