Default My S2000 first day at the track

I played hookie today and went to Summit Point Track. Chanced it and went stand by, hoping that I could get in their Friday at the Track (FATT). And ... I was able to get in the Novice class! It was incredible! A whole day of instructor class, track time with instructor, and lot's of speed. They even have someone taking pictures of you. Check out my S2000; don't mind for the dorky loaner helmet(I need to invest in some gear ).

Thanks to all of you that recommend going to the track. Definitely the way to safely learn the limits of your car.

QUESTION:
I just finished washing the car and noticed lots of break dust. I imagine this is expected. Are there any other areas in the car that I need to check for wear, levels? I checked the oil and filled it up a bit, anything else?

Also, if any of you are interested in knowing what we covered, please let me know and I can go over the day's events.

Tracks are fun!!
One thing i would keep an eye on is your tires. Remeber back when you were 16 and they made you do circle checks? Well a blowout on a track can be pretty hairy
Hasn't happened to me, but its not a pretty sight!

Believe me, that was the best $175 I spent on this car yet.

The cool thing about it is you got driving instruction on the track.

Outstanding! I really want to go to a Car Guys event down here in Richmond at VIR. They have one soon (like, next two weeks or so) but I can't imagine wearing a helmet in July heat in Virginia.

They have one in October that will probably be MUCH better temperature-wise.

The Car Guys event is for two days, I think. Costs a bit more than what I saw posted as the price for this event, but should be worth it!

Anyone have experience with a Car Guys event before?

I wonder if he's kidding about the Virginia heat or about wearing a helmet?
  1. Texas heat is alot worse than Virginia
  2. Helmets may save your life when it hit something harder than your head!

Tacking the S2000 to the track can be the most gratifying reason for owning one. I've only been to a 2 day event with eight 30 minute sessions with the instructor riding shotgun.

Most people(including me) don't drive their S2k within 80 percent of its capabilities. But it sure is fun trying!
