OUCH man, right from under your nose. Really sorry to hear that. I know my car is more than a piece of metal. I hope you get this resovled in a favorable manner soon.

The tow truck thing is pretty common, 2 of my buddies cars were stolen at school from the parking lot. DURING BROAD DAYLIGHT!!!

Very sorry to hear about your car. Please let us know if you get it back.

I think you should post what color your car is and how we can identify it (rims, exhaust, plate, etc.). There are a lot of owners in the area that could keep an eye out for it. I know it's probably too late, but if the thieves drive it at all, it might be seen. What part of Hollywood was it taken from?

If you haven't already, you should interview your neighbors to find out if anyone can identify the tow truck or the thieves.

Also investigate sales of S2000 seats and other parts originating from the L.A. area.

Well I stand corrected and retrack my last post. I guess towing theft is more common than I thought. I am on the East Coast, we aren't as sophisticated as to tow, we smash and grab. Not Me of course.
Sorry about the car hope you get it back in one peice. I remember when I walked out (when mine was towed) my heart sank. Insurance would never give me what I think my car is worth.

Tow truck theft is pretty common, and ironically easy to get away with. If you see a couple of guys towing away someone's car, do you think "well, that kinda sucks, glad it's not me" or do you think "oh, those guys are stealing that car!". Probably the former.

hyperpm - a chop shop would probably own their own tow truck(s) under a bogus business name. Maybe run a legal tow business during the day to keep the cover.

My E46 M3 was towed away/stolen this past January. Thank God for insurance.

check this story out...I parked my car in newark in broad day light on washington avenue. I come out of class and it was gone. I figured since it was metered parking i musta not put in enough coins and it was towed. Called Newark police gave them my license plate number and vin. They said they HAD it and yes it was towed, but since it was after 6 i had to go the next day. I go the next day and they didnt have it, nor did they ever have it. It was found 4 weeks later stripped in patterson NJ (about 20 min away)

Sounds like someone in the Newark Police department might have a side job stripping cars or some friends who do. But who ever heard of police corruption.... nah.

Vin.... sorry to hear about the loss! Let us know what happens.
