I'm gonna know whether or not it was him when I confront him. Everyone has tells when they lie. Well, almost everyone. The damage to my car isn't what bothers me the most it is the chicken shit nature of the crime. At least leave a note with an apology. One thing is for sure if he decides to stiff me with the bill, I live right above his apartment and can make his life VERY miserable.

#2 and #3, absolutely. But number 1?? Come on, you're going to drive a POS and leave a great car in your garage because of the possibility of a scratch? Didn't you buy your car to enjoy it?
Well, I feel your pain. But it hurts so much more when the stupid jerk that dents your car is you. ( Some how, being able to blame someone else is so much more comforting!) Anyway, my advice is to forget getting into a hassle with your neighbor. While you live over top of him, He lives below you and you are the one who owns the "cherry" car. Think about it. This guy drives a maroon, F150 pickup! He's got to be a first class redneck. You just can't have a winning situation, and while you love your car, you don't want to have to stand guard on it!
Check out the following -
1. Talk to apartment management about a secure parking area for your car, if such an area is available. Some aprt. complexes have garaging available for a fee.
2. Ask the mamage to look in to the "vandalism" that is occurring. Chances are, if this kind of behavior has been reported by others, your neighbor could loose his lease. Some people tend to get very polite when they are looking at homelessness.
3. Look into moving to a better neighborhood. It may be worth a few extra rental dollars to move to an apartment with a garage or secure parking area.
Anyway if none of this is helpful, I do wish you luck and congratulations on the new "S".

If you're so upset and you have proof beyond a reasonable doubt that your neighbor damaged your car, take it to small claims court.
Otherwise, look for ways that you protect your car and park it in a safe place.

but how fricken hard is it to respect other people's
'ing property. How hard is to take a split second of your time and be more considerate. When did it become "OK" to damage other people's property?

Confront your neighbor & see what happens (but don't be an a$$). If nothing else, he'll know that you know it was him & will (hopefully) be more careful about his actions in the future.
sadly there will always be haters... my s2000 has been egged, keyed, my emblems have been jacked while leaving deep deep key marks where they used to be...if it was intentional karma will get them back

The S is my daily driver. I always try to park far away from other cars
or give them plenty of space to open their door without hitting my car.
No matter how much room I give them, they always seem to park closer.
Some people just don't know how to park or stay within there boundary.

I waited for the guy to return home and he didn't. In the mean time my bad day got worse, one of my family members has become seriously ill, and may not make the night. So I have MUCH more important things to do with my time. It looks like this time he got away with it.
I can sympathize with you.
Years ago I bought an Audi and someone backed into it in my apt parking lot.
They creamed the whole back end.
It was 4 months old and I was paying half of all I made each month just for payments.
One of my neighbors saw it happen, but the buttheads never showed up again and noone got the tag number.
Insurance covered a lot of the repair cost, but it was never the same car again.
Like you said you are minding your own business, not bothering anybody, and some turd comes along and messes you over.
Sometimes you just gotta let it go, or it will eat you up. An easy thing to say.
