Default My thoughts on my S2000...

I've only had my S2000 for a month now but I've been thinking about how to mod it.

This car is my daily driver so Im not looking for a high horsepower firebreather.

Things that I think need improvement are the low RPM torque, too high revs while cruising, and some reliability problems with high RPM operation.

Im a turbo guy so Im definitely going turbo. Im going to shoot for about 300hp. Gonna keep it low boost and possibly run it on the stock injectors. I like the E manage since its cheaper and I already have one. Ill go with the EMS if I have to but don't want to spend the money if the E manage will do the job.

With the increased torque from the turbo Im hoping I can go with a 3.6 or 3.7 rear. I find the high revving all the time kinda annoying. 4000 rpm at 70mph in 6th gear to me is just ridiculous. I might possibly go with a two stage boost controller and run higher boost at lower rpm if I need a torque boost after going with the lower gears. I plan on going with a very small turbo so it spools up quick.

Finally after reading numerous threads about people overrevving Im a little scared for the cars reliability. So hopefully with the increased torque from the turbo I wont have to rev it to 9k rpm. Im not gonna to lower the rev limiter of course but Ill just try to shift in the 8k range.

And just so everyone knows, I love my S2000. I think it is an awesome car and would be perfect if I never had to let the revs drop below 6k.

These are just things Id like to change to make it a better daily driver for me.

I think there may be a small percentage of people who think the same as me but anyones opinions are welcome.

Your whole "not liking a high revving engine" is hilarious. Sorry to ask you this, BUT WHY DID YOU BUY THE S2000?

Keep reading some more threads on here. Seems that you are misinformed on some of your facts. Emanage has trouble handling turbo's, 3.xx gears will reduce your torque at low rpms, and there nothing wrong with redlining the car.

moving to S2000 talk, since it relates to your S2k in general, and mods you want to plan.

You're thinking of 4.57 gears. If he goes with a 3.57, his RPM's will be lower. This means his drive shaft will turn 3.57 times per wheel revolution.

Lower the redline to prevent over-revving? That makes no sense. And it won't help "reliability" during the 3-2 upshift at all.

Reading your post you obviously bought the wrong car. Seems like you wanted a Corvette or maybe a SLK 350, more HP and Torque, lower redline, low RPM's while crusing down the highway, etc.

You should drive the car for a few months and give it a chance before you start modding it and void your entire new car warranty.

Besides, if you put in the turbo your going to spend lots of time trying to tune it and get it running right but if that's your decision good luck with that.
