My thoughts on my S2000...
Dude turbo = hard to get to work right (you better be an expert tuner)
SC= ~300
High revs = sell car
gears = 0-60 in 12.5 seconds and a half hour quarter mile
Most times the engine lives untill 15,500K
Reliability = Great (u take care of it it takes care of u)

Your whole "not liking a high revving engine" is hilarious. Sorry to ask you this, BUT WHY DID YOU BUY THE S2000?

Reading your post you obviously bought the wrong car. Seems like you wanted a Corvette or maybe a SLK 350, more HP and Torque, lower redline, low RPM's while crusing down the highway, etc.
You should drive the car for a few months and give it a chance before you start modding it and void your entire new car warranty.
Besides, if you put in the turbo your going to spend lots of time trying to tune it and get it running right but if that's your decision good luck with that.

S2K Dude is 100% right in his assessment of you...you like many, many people buy the S2000 with notions that don't match the reality of the car...this car is a quasi-F1 car, IT IS MEANT TO BE ON A CIRCUIT...it is the total package minus great aeros, but the car is NOT one dimensional....so many people only think in terms of HP/straight line...this car simply isn't meant for one dimension...use it to its full potential on a circuit and you will quickly realize you don't need or would even want lots of HP
For example, I don't believe that the original author was complaining about a high-reving car in general, just that the typical RPM range for highway cruising is a little annoying. And I'd agree. But I'd also agree with the board that lengthing the gearing really isn't an ideal solution though because of the already limited torque. But since he's looking at a turbo maybe that's not so much of an issue.
The fear of an overrev also seems reasonable to me. Personally I find that the car could be pretty easy to overrev due to the short gearing, especially in a track situation.
Seems to me what he was saying is that he LIKES the main appeal of the car -- the agility, the responsiveness and the "fun factor" but after a few months found a couple of shortcomings. Pretty reasonable IMHO.
I agree with UKXotics. I am new to the S, and I love so many things about it, especially the handling. But there are a couple things that kinda bug me, like the high revs at highway speed and low torque. But the things I love about the car totally outway any of the negatives. I love feeling the VTEC kick in and 9K shifting, so I can handle 4k at 70mph.

It sounds like the S isn't the car for you, the 9k redline is one of my favourite things about this car, lowering it would be like buying a masterpiece painting and colouring it in with a marker pen.If noise is the problem you could soundproof the cabin, but I also find this mildly sacrilegious.
