What type of turbo
For the time being i have no intention on running more than 7-8psi of boost. But i am tring to decide what turbo i want. I have been leaning toward a t3, or similar small turbo, for extremely fast spool up. But i was talking to someone who said that the smaller turbos like the t3 wouldnt be able to keep up in the high rpms and would start to loose boost after 7000 or so. Since i am not going to be running a high boost level for a very long time what type of turbo should i look into getting. I am looking for a quick spool up but also something can still make power at 9k rpm.
Look into getting the GT30R series of turbos.
Very quick spooling on our cars and they do not run out of breath at the higher rpms...
The GT30 is the best choice for anyone who doesn't want peak HP, but keep in mind that they are still good to ~450 whp (not that you'd be interested in that since you're not looking to boost that high).

If you are planning on more power down the road then I'd say look into a GT35R. 500 whp is doable with that turbo. It spools up slightly slower than a GT30 but is capable of more power.
On our cars a GT30R is fully spooled up around about I'd say 3,500 rpm. The GT35R on the other hand is fully spooled up around about 4,500 rpm. It starts spooling right around 3,500-4,000 rpm. You will be in boost well before vtec engagement even with a GT35...

If spool up time is a factor to be considered I would have to say that a ball bearing turbo is worth all the trouble (whatever trouble that may be

I was referring to the trouble of having to run coolant lines and a restrictor to the oil feed or risk blowing out the seals.
I just think ball bearing turbos are over rated and priced. I have yet to see an S put down more power with a ball bearing turbo compared to my turbo with the same boost and setup. Actually I was told by my tuner that a ball bearing turbo just isn't worth me changing to it and I wouldn't see any difference in power over mine. He actually commented that mine responded really really good with the S.

I'd have to agree with PRS2K though, the ball bearing turbos are a new generation of turbos that are designed with more reliability and performance in mind. If the price difference between a non-ball bearing and a ball bearing turbo isn't that much of a factor, I def. think spending some extra time and effort to install the ball bearing turbo is worth it...
