Default my top doesn't always come down at the same height???

Hey,

In the last couple of week's, I have noticed than when I pull my top down it doesn't sit at the same height? Sometimes it goes all the way done, sometimes it stay's a big higher (1 inch maybe). Yesterday I just decided to pull down and pull up the top a couple of times to test it. I did that about 3-4 times, and I noticed that everytime it didn't pull down at the same place, there was a difference maybe 1 inch (up and down). Have some of you experience this probleme and can I pass this on garanty, or is it normal (which i dought)?

I've had topdown problems too. Sometimes it stopped 6" above where it was supposed to. Next time it's at the dealer it will be adjusted.

Every once in a while the material would get bunched up, preventing the top from going down all the way. Sometimes I would have to cycle it up and down a few times to get it to finally go down all the way.

When it's colder outside, the top becomes stiff and it won't go all the way down, it may help a little by moving it up and down, but it doesn't bother me.

I have an 02 with the glass window, which tends to be a little stubborn depending on the weather. I had more problems when the vehicle was newer but now it is getting easier to put the top down as the material becomes more pliable.

One trick is to open the top halfway, locate the window as it's being folded in, give it a slight push towards the back and close the top the rest of the way.

Are you opening the top during any cold mornings or before the top gets warmed slightly?

This is NOT a big deal and certainly cannot be considered a defect. In time, you will also notice that it will not stop at the same place (distance from the top of the windshield) each time. As already said, the material in the soft top folds, bunches, stretches differently depending on the temp outside, the way it bunches and "unbunches".

This almost reminds me of that thread not long ago when the owner wanted the dealer to fix his top because it was 1 mm off to one side. I'll bet your nads don't hang the same from one day to the next.

xviper in my case it is, i didn't pay for a electric top, to getup everytime i open my top and push it down. It is not a 1mm issue but more of an inch.

It's not a good idea to push it down if it can't go down by itself anymore.
