you really dont have even a couple of days that clear up enough to drive the car for the entire year???
whew! we think we have it bad when it sprinkles and we actually have to put the top up!
yes, the tractor sat for sept- may (9 mos) when it got gunked up... maybe 6 months isnt as bad, but i sure wouldnt want to take that chance- i would drive it at least a couple of times over the 6 mos.

well since my s2000 isn't my primary driver, when I suspend the full insurance coverage I save about 100 bucks a month, so over the winter that'll translate into about 300. That'll just about pay for that comptech CAI that I've been wanting for a while now. I think your savings will depend on which company you go through and how much you're currently paying. I go through State Farm and they have no problem suspending my coverage like this. All it takes is a phone call now to suspend and a phone call in the spring to put it back on...

My State Farm agent told me that, if we have a stretch of warm weather in say, January, and I want to take her out, I can call & activate the insurance just for the day. Check if your insurance company will allow the same thing.

I remove all coverage from the car except Comprehensive coverage. I think that my premium drops from like $400/6 months to $100/6 months. So there is some "free" savings there.

My agent also said that if I drove the car for the day during the time coverage was removed, just to call and let them know.

Yes, sad but true!
The problem is when we do get the nice sunny days, that is when you want to take the car out for a spin, but the problem is the roads are covered with salt dust. Driving in this will just coat the under body with salt, and then when the car is parked, the salt will draw and hold moisture - thus rust and corrosion gets started.

On the up side, every spring when it comes out of the garage it is like buying a brand new car!

I hate winters.. I don't like the idea of not being able to drive the S2000 around. I do what most of you guys have said. I like to get it washed/waxed, fill up the gas tank, change the oil, and tuck it in. I keep mine in my garage. I don't have jack stands so it sits on the ground. But I do take it out on dry days, if there isn't salt on the ground. Only thing then is the tires are the Bridgestones, and they don't like the cold. Plus I have to watch the weather very carefully and not get caught in some freak snow storm. As for this winter... still deciding when I have time to get back home (I'm at school) and take care of my Winterizing. I remember someone said to flip the window wipers up, if you don't have a car cover I suppose it's easier. Can't think of anything else in particular that I do.

Everyone has there preferences on storage. One should be unanimous; disconnect the battery and remove it. It will completely prevent electrolysis between the thousands of spots in your electrical system where it could occur. Also for cold storage, if the battery should loose it's charge, it will freeze and swell, possibly crack. when it thaws, acid will flow out and F!@# up everything it touches.
