So the doughnut only fits in the front? Can it not be used in the rear at all?

As far as the rolling diameter, aren't the front and rears about the same? Perhaps I'm wrong about that... I'm wondering why running a front tire on the rear would account for diff problems if the diameter is roughly the same..

Running the space saver on the rear damages the differential. You put the front tire on the rear because it's the same diameter, then put the space saver spare on the front. It must be getting late and your brain has already gone to bed or something, right?

Still, you guys who call AAA just to change a tire are wimps.
Like I said before, the first rear flat I changed myself. The second one happened while I was still working. I figured that because it was a free service included with the purchase of my extended warranty I'd take advantage of it.

You know how some people on this site tells you that if you remove the spare and the tool kit, you save extra weight and you "go faster". Yeah, I did that and then I had my flat (a huge gash near the tread). Not very wise was I...

I was only 4 miles away from home, so I decided to drive home in the flat. I figured if I were to screw up my rim, I could buy new/used ones from this board for fairly decent price, or go bigger. And I was just too mad/angry and didn't wanted to wait for the tow truck, and had a date, and ...

To my surprise, there was NO damage to the rim. I drove like 10-15 mph all the way home and the deflated low profile tires acted as a cushion b/t the ground and the rims, kinda like runflats, but not really. Not too smart, I know, but I was impressed.

I got new tires, check the alignment, and no worries. I got my spare and my tools in the trunk at all times now.

Live and learn (for me, always the hard way)

The AAA guy did the exact same thing with my car.

I'm a consultant, and I was in the middle of an important project at the client's office.

Read your owners manual, it is all in there.

The temporary spare can only be used on the front.

It is when it's pretty prominently mentioned in the owner's manual...
