Default MY02 Top goes down, but not enuff for tonneau...

just got the MY02 certified from honda...

the top goes down fine and quick.. but always seemed to not go down completely to me..

then i went to put the tonneau cover on and i basically have to sit on the top to get the clips to go down far enuff on the cover..(doesnt seem right at all. since women drive these cars daily and im a pretty hefty guy and barely went down enuff)

anywho.. only thing i think "could" be the problem is the "elastic" straps that stretch from the second bar to the 3rd (counting from front) are very flimsy and weak..(straps are about 1.5" in width and maybe 8" long..

they just hang down and very limp..

could this be why it doesnt wanna go down?

any other reasons...

i figured id ask b4 going to honda andhaving it be something very simple and me looking like a douche.

also.. how do you guys clean the back plastic under where top goes... mines filty but i cant seem to get arm around.. even w/ middle window folded down.. any idea?

thank you all

It does sound like your elastic is limp. Unfortunately there isn't a Viagra cure for them, they have to be replace.

BE VERY CAREFUL IN THE INTERIM!!! I ended up with 2 fist sized holes in my top where it forced the latches thru the top.

When it gets bad enough to pause in it's trip down and then click past the tight spot is when you'll destroy the roof - $2,800. Ask me how I know

Hoels are VERY possible if you force the top. I was lucky and Honda replaced my top for the worn elastic band problem.
