Default MY04 Accessories Price ?

Im in the final stages of purchasing a MY04 when my salesman brought out an accessories sheet that listed the supposed cost for the dealership for each item and the labor involved to install the item.

My first question is labor a factor that is usually negotiated when purchasing accessories ? Ive purchased cars before and never had this even be an issue.

2nd question is for the head rest speakers I was given this pricing:

MSRP - $499 Cost - $389 Labor - $ 144 Total - $533

His reasoning was the item is new and arent sure of the installation so are charging this much more ? I have a hard time paying more then MSRP for an accessory especially since I am purchasing a new car from them at the same time. Someone give me some advice on what is the typical process ? thanks !

Labor should not be factored into the cost of the accessories upon purchase of them. You should only be paying labor AFTER they install them. This can work to an advantage or to a disadvantage for you, if it takes them 5 minutes to install but they charged you for 3 hours, you get screwed. If they were going to charge you for 3 hours in the final price and it takes them 12 hours to finish when you negotiated to pay actual labor costs, you get screwed.

Most of the S2000 Accessories can be installed by you. The front/rear spoilers are very simple to do, the side strakes are a bit more involved but still fairly easy. Headrest speakers, I can't see those being too hard to install either.

Also, you can most likely get all of your accessories from hardtopguy (board sponsor here) for a lot cheaper than what they are charging you.

Marcus,
do you know if the sidestrakes can be installed without drilling into the body?

Yes, they can be installed without drilling the outside part of the panel, you still have to drill underneath.

I just can't guarantee how well they will stay on if you don't install the outer panel bracket.

yeah, thats what I thought. I am selling mine and the buyer backed out b/c you have to drill on the body. Didn't think double sided would be enough

Probably wouldn't be enough to hold it. Of course the upside is that you could have a Honda dealer install it and they would be liable for body rust.
