Default MY04 alignment specs - best recommendations?

luft46 PM'd me and said that he thought my car could benefit from an alignment check (many are off apparently) as well as the "Euro-spec". I know that there are some recommended alignment numbers for the 00-03.

My questions, then, are:

1) Are the Euro MY04 specs different than the US MY04 specs?
2) Has anyone come up with a recommended MY04 recipe that represents a good balance between handling and decent street wear?

Many thanks.

I'm also interested in this. The more I drive my 04, the more it feels like I want a bit of camber in the front to remove a slight amount of push. If anybody has recommendations for good numbers, it'll save me from going to alignment shop and asking for "oh, about a degree or so" in the front.

If you do a search you can find the numbers I posted from my car, as well as the numbers used by Annie.

I'd like to know what the alignment specs are for europe in the 04 myself.

The 04 owners manual has the stock specs for the car. My alignment was not correct from the factory.

Mostly I added negative front camber. This improved responsiveness considerably.

Yeah, I did the search b4 I posted - was looking for more opinions, as well as the Euro answer - they are on different time, so maybe someone will offer up some numbers tomorrow. Thx.

look for a post by banannie or her husband... they have done a good job working out the suspension settings for optimum auto-x performance. apparently her husband was the 2002 scca champ or something like that, and she is a top notch driver too. i think they hang out at the scca forum or something.

I am looking for good street settings, not auto-x or racing settings.

well i know the auto-x settings were more like the 03 settings in camber, etc. which eliminated the 04 pushing when cornering at limits... i'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish for a modified street setting, could you elaborate?

i thought my stock settings were fine, but maybe i need to make some adjustments too?

Here is what banannie sent me.....

Howdy!!!

Well, here's what our car came with from the factory:

Front Left/Right
Camber -0.2deg/-0.5deg
Caster 7.8deg/5.7deg
Toe -0.05"/-0.10"

Rear Left/Right
Camber -1.4deg/-1.8deg
Toe 0.1"/0.07"

What we set it to - the settings were done by Greg Fordahl (multi time national champion for Solo II and active road racer) - he's a good friend and owns a shop here in the seattle area www.fordahlmotorsports.com

Since the specs below increase camber/change toe, know that your tires *may* wear a bit more. But what fun is a few thousand more miles when it makes the car behave badly?

They always add weight to the driver's seat before setting an alignment to simulate the driver - I think my hubby said they'd put 180-190 lbs (my hubby's weight...)

Front Left/Right
Camber -1.4deg/-1.5deg
Caster 7.8deg/5.7deg
Toe -0.02"/-0.02"

Rear Left/Right
Camber -1.9deg/-1.9deg
Toe 0.09"/0.08"

We managed to do quite well with just the alignment on the crappy street tires at a local autocross (uhm, the new car's tires SUCK compared to the S02's...) My hubby had second fastest time of the day, with that same Greg Fordahl taking the top spot in a Hoosier-clad Boxster S. I was seventh fastest, out of 134 drivers. NW Region has a lot of champs so Ron's time was VERY good for a basically stock car!

Have fun!

Annie

Thanks, asu_lee (and banannie!).

And the new tires suck, eh. Oh well, just means I need to get some wheels'n'slicks
