Post MY06 S2000 Dyno

** Haterism will not be tolerated in this thread. If you have anything negative to say, keep your comments to yourself. I don't want to hear any BS about the results being skewed because the dyno's were done on a dynapack. For those who don't know any better, refer to this link:http://home.earthlink.net/~spchurch/church...sting/id12.html **

On December 30, 2005, I had my MY06 S2000 dyno'd by Shawn Church at Church Automotive testing. We did a few baseline dyno's, installed an Invidia cat-back exhaust, and did a few more dyno's. Here are the results:

Baseline: 230whp, 162tq
w/Invidia: 235whp, 165tq

I would have made approximately 225whp on a dynojet, as the dynapack Shawn uses reads approximately 10whp higher than your average dynojet.

Unfortunately I cannot provide the dyno sheets at this time--they got wet on the drive home and aren't legible. The next time I am at Churchs I will have them reprinted. Anyways, I do have some video footage of the dyno's (don't bother trying to access the videos if you don't have high speed cable):

Hopefully the majority of you will enjoy the videos and appreciate the results.

Yes. Shawn uses a "TCF" of 1.0.

Not to start any "haterism" but you DO know that even with the estimated 10whp difference calculated in between a dynapack and the more popular DynoJet, 225whp with just an exhaust is 20whp higher than the average MY04-05 stock dyno numbers (SAE corrected), right?

So one of three things must be true:
1. The MY06 puts down a good bit more power than the other AP2s.
2. You have a "factory freak," or
3. Those dyno numbers are not accurate.

The AP2 is rated 237hp at the crank. To be putting down an estimated 225whp w/ just an exhaust makes it seem as if there was almost no drivetrain loss.

As a follow up to my last post, I will say this... at least you have a baseline number to work with. As long as you keep going back to the same dyno, you should be able to judge pretty well what your gains are with each mod. Your last dyno session showed a documented 5whp/3wtq gain with the Invidia exhaust, which is good to know.

Thanks for your responses.

Here are mine:

1. Shawn has dyno'd several MY04-05 S2000s, and they averaged 235whp. He was surprised to see that my S2000 didn't make as much power.
2. It is been frequently stated, and proven via Shawn's dynapack, that Honda has under-rated the power of the MY04-up S2000.

That is insane!
I have never heard of an AP2 dyno at 235????
So you are saying that he was suprised to see that your car is lower than the avg 235? Am I missing something here? Am I the only one who has only seen AP2's dyno at like ~215 at the most?

Yes, at the very LEAST I have a baseline number. I am going to have Shawn dyno my car after each and every mod so that I can document the specific gains (or possible losses).

I think you should make it clear in the first post that your dyno was SAE corrected =)
