Mystery bolt
First, I am not sure the best place to post this, so please feel free to move to another sub-forum if needed.
I've had our 2006 S2K for just over two years. Two days ago I dropped the top to enjoy some sun and as the top was retracting (not even 1/2 open) a bolt fell from it and into the driver's seat. It actually hit me on the shoulder and fell between my back and the back of the seat.
I put the top back up and tried to inspect everything to see where it came from. Not only are there no visible signs of anything missing, but there aren't event any similar style bolts that I can see anywhere in the frame.
If I could actually figure out how to post images I would. I would describe this as a matte black machine bolt, rounded Phillips head, approximately 3/4" long. Anyone have a clue?
Thanks,
Rex

You can place the photo on a photo hosting site, then post a link.
Since its matte black, that sure sounds like its from the tip mechanism, not some other random bolt that somehow got caught up there.
How thick is this bolt?

what immediately comes to mind is the bolt that holds the soft top latch to the soft top. open your soft top latch and see if 2 bolts on each side are still there. This car doesn't use many 3/4" long black phillip head bolts. As mentioned, there are 2 phillips bolts on each latch, one is counter sunk and one is normal round head.
