Default Mystery Button

So I've got this mystery button here:

I've had this car for almost 4 years not and somehow this was the first time I've seen it? I dunno. So anyways, I started looking under the dash there and it splices into a harness, which then goes to two more harnesses, one leading the the left side of the steering wheel, and another going into what looks like the fuse box.

I was playing with it and the only reaction I could get was when I sat in the car with the doors locked and I pressed it a few times it set the alarm off. Also, this might be related so I figured I'd mention there's a box under my driver's seat. It has what looks like an antenna coming out of it, and I can just barely see the word 'Honda' on it, so it looks like a factory accessory. When I bought this car certified pre owned back in 2006 it was really loaded with options, so I wouldn't be surprised if this is factory.

Any ideas?

You've got a factory OEM alarm. The box under the seat is the brain unit. And that button is the valet switch. Disables the alarm so a valet can use the car with only a valet key. Exact instructions, I forgot. I've never used it.

I would also agree with the 'valet' button thought.

It will also disable your alarm if you hold it and turn the key on. Only useful if your fob goes dead and the alarm is blaring.

You have the optional factory alarm. That button is the valet button for the alarm. You should also have an LED on the center console.

To use the alarm you MUST have the proper remote. The proper remote for the alarm has an option button in place of the trunk button.

My buttons are all worn out so I can't really tell which one is which. I do have the LED next to the ebrake handle. Usually when I get into the car I hear a beep, but not every time, and I wonder if that had something to do with the alarm. So if this button is for the valet, is the owner supposed to instruct the valet to hold the button as they turn the key?

Might it be the switch to activate the fuel pump again after it is switched off during an accident ?

There is a button for that reads the manual (German manual).

No.. you don't instruct the valet to do anything of the sort.. YOU are supposed to put the car in valet mode before you leave it with the valet. This way he can't lock himself out of the car while jockeying it around the valet lot...
