Default N/A Setup?

I have an 05 S2k. I'm currently in Iraq so I will have some money to get rid of when I get back to Hawaii. Set-up is as follows- K&N FIPK, Berk's header(if it owns up to the chatter) berk's tp, T1R sparrow exh, and the Spoon throttle body. I am still trying to keep the cost and noise pollution down hence the sparrow exh instead of the single 70mm. Let me know how that all works together and if I need to make changes. I appreciate it guys.

IMHO, with all the $$ you saved in Iraq... I would part out your N/A mods and go FI...

Only problem is right now I am looking at spending about 3 grand. If I decided to go FI I would definately go with a centrifigal supercharger. Most likely it would be a Vortec. I would love to have it installed by Honda so i could mantain my 7 year extended warranty. That option would end up costing me around 6 thousand.

Sell your mods and you could get your setup for about $3K out of pocket. Install the kit yourself and gather a plethera of knowledge while doing so.

Screw the 7 year warranty... I've never kept a car for more than 3 years. Why pay for a policy for someone else? That's what your doing if you end up selling the car.

yea... but the s2000 is a different kind of car- allot of people keep them till they blow or can afford to get another s2k. If he plans on keeping it for seven years... then the warranty is great for him. Cannot say your experience with cars will be like his. Also- some people are into NA performance. I say good setup- go for it.

I really haven't been able to decide. I would love to buy the supercharger and install it myself. If I did have a mojor warranty issue off comes the supercharger. I just don't know if I want to go spending 5 thousand on the supercharger kit. I haven't purchased the parts yet, therefor I cannot part them out or sell them. I'm just in the market. I would love to put out around 230hp at the wheels.

That sounds like a good start. I haven't heard anything about Berk's new header yet, so please keep us informed. Also, J's Racing, Mugen 2.2L header (good for midrange), Hytech, and ASM make good power as well.

With those mods, I would definitely invest in a VAFC or AEM EMS system and pay someone to properly tune the car. You should be able to pick up a few extra ponies.

Now if you're more serious about N/A setups, Crower is on the verge of releasing new cams for the F20/F22c that are rumored for 10+ whp, but that's still speculation. But of course, nothing beats an optimal N/A setup than a 2.4-2.5L stroker kit (Toda, Crower, inlinepro) with aggressive cams and maybe ITB's.

But for a mild N/A setup, I/H/E with testpipe and tune on an AP2 should allow you to hit your 230 whp mark.

If all you want look at the forums talking about e-management. A number of members now have a bit over 230whp with less mods.

You're not goign to get it with that setup, not even close. Let's assume you're making around 205 to the wheels now. The throttle body and intake won't really do anything, but let's be nice and say 3 rwhp. Now you're at 208 (maybe). Add the header, and to be nice we'll say it gives you 5 hp top end - 213. The exhaust will maybe give you 4 hp, so now you're at 217. Even with tuning, you're only going to get to 223 or 224, and that's with me giving the HIGH END estimates on the hp figures with each part. You'll be lucky if you hit 218 IMO.

You'll spend almost or at 3 grand with all of this, and you might still lose to a stock S2000 if you don't shift properly one race or if they've gutted their trunk.

You can go another route, a single 70mm exhaust, your header choice, and a VAFC2 2with tuning and definitely be in the 225 hp range, or get gears and exhaust and definitely be faster.

Or, you could buy a used vortech kit for 3k and get a local club member to help install it for 200 bucks and a 12 pack of beer.

Does this give you any insight? I hope so. I went your route with "major bolt on performance mode" and got the T1R exhaust (which is for sale now!) and J's header and 4.77 gears. Sure, I was as fast as a supercharged S2000 but I spent more money than I should have and finally said "screw it, I'm going turbo" (of which my kit should be arriving from Fed Ex, ANY MINUTE NOW!!!).
