Nasty behind the seats!

So I was in my car the other day and I reached behind the passenger seat to grab a document that I had placed in the pocket on the seatback. When I pulled my hand out, I noticed that there was this brown looking "dust" all over my hand! I mean this was thick! This wasn't just a light layer of dust, but almost mud like.

I realized that all the times I've cleaned my car, I've never bothered to move the seat forward and wipe behind them (especially the passenger side). I guess since we all drive with the top down 99.9% of the time, lots of dust and crap gets into these areas. It only makes sense.

Has anyone else had this rather eye-opening experience?

Yep! That's why I remove the seats every so often to really get behind there and clean. It also makes it easier to polish the rear window. The first time I did it, I found a couple of june bug carcasses, some change and a few other random things...

LOL! For some reason "june bug carcasses" just sounds funny to me. Maybe I'm just in a weird mood.

Greg, that is what I call "extreme cleanliness". And I thought that I was bad cleaning my car once a week....

I can say that I have NEVER removed the seats from a car just to clean. I've done it for restoration purposes or for replacement of seats, but never just to clean. Amazing.
