that nasty clutch buzzzz!
If you read the TSB though, it states clearly that it is cause from gear backlash.
The problem isn't really the clutch, it's the transmission. It's just that the earlier model clutches that came in the S2000 had clutch springs that were susecptible to vibrating, further amplifing the noise.
The new clutch discs are supposedly less suseptible to the clutch spring buzz, however there is no fix for the transmission noise.
In the end, you can go through the pain of prematurly replacing your clutch to get rid of the noise, only to have it come back.
Your case, gpchaz151, is the same as mine. We both have extended warranties. Although they will put up a fight, you can, and it has been proved on here many times, have the dealership replace the clutch under warranty, regardless of the fact that clutch discs are not covered, they are ultimately responsible to honor a TSB. This has been argued over and over again, but it has been proven that they wll sometimes give in if you put up a fight.
In my opinion though, I wouldn't trust most dealer technicians to replace my clutch, especially after I fought with them over it to do it for free. Going through all that trouble only to have the problem reappear would suck.
The only advantage of putting up the fight I guess is that you get a free clutch. Again though, I don't trust them to do it correctly.[QUOTE]
"Clearance between transmission gears (backlash) is
normal and sometimes audible. In an S2000, this noise
is more noticeable since the transmission is between
the seats instead of up front in the engine
compartment. When the vehicle decelerates, its
weight, together with the pulses from the engine,
excites the transmission gears, causing them to buzz
or rattle. "

Ok, I bought my car used... it's a 2001. And this year, in 2007, I got my clutch disc replaced at Honda for no charge. It's possible to talk them into it if your car still has the powertrain warranty.

when the buzz bothers me, i just put it in neutral.
i dont know about other cases but i only get it while decelerating in gear. pull it out of gear, problem sovled.

Has anyone actually had the buzz replaced through Honda Care?

Yes, I meant Honda Care.
I realize that it's a scam. All dealerships are scammers.
With that being said, does anyone know the procedure for "trading" the warranty in?

As for trading the warranty in.. you don't trade it in along with the car. You can call Honda Care and sell it back to them. They'll at least give you a small portion back.
